I was the Wagonmaster for the NY Gulfstreamers June Rally at Charlie Brown Campground in CT . We had a couple tornado warnings to deal with but most of the storms went around us. All in all I think it went pretty well and everyone left happy.
From Connecticut we have started our cross country summer adventure.
Our first stop was at the "Flight 93 Memorial" in Shanksville, PA. We followed a slow country back road through farm land deep in Stoneycreek Township until we came upon a sign for the temporary site. Up on a hill over looking a pond and farmland was the somber reminder of this tragic event in history.
Benches and angels bearing the names of the 40 passengers and crew, a memorial stone with the 40 names, and more.
The small fenced in area is in the field a short distance from construction of the permanent memorial scheduled to open on September 11,2011. (the artist rendition)
