Catskills to Good Sam Rally

After leaving a great week in Mystic, CT we ventured to upstate New York. Spent a few days in the Catskill Mountains looking for Rip Van Winkle. What we found were cats and dogs in downtown Catskill, nice scenic roads and waterfalls.

We did some antiquing and sightseeing and meandered all around.

Next stop,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
The Good Sam Rally at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.
It's been raining for days and the NY State Fairgrounds has become a quagmire or so we've been told. We arrived at the fairgrounds to attend the Good Sam/Camping World Rally and quickly got redirected to the Destiny Mall parking lot several miles down the road. Hundreds of RV's found this would be their home for the weekend rally. School buses were available to shuttle us to and from the fairgrounds for the events. My cousin Bob Wilson and his wife Maggie are also here and it was nice to spend some time together.

The Destiny Mall is 4 levels of stores, restaurants and entertainment.
The Canyon Climb Adventure was so cool, to watch anyway. It's the worlds largest indoor ropes and challenge course suspended 70 feet in the air with 81 elements. Ah, to be a kid again ;)

The mall also has Pole Position Raceway. It's a 40,000 sq. ft facility with the fastest electric karts in the U.S., reaching speeds of up to 45mph!
Austin wanted to try it.

Austin was the pole sitter for his race but that position didn't last long.  He thought he was going pretty fast but after a couple laps he gave up his position.   He had fun and that's all that counts.

Back at the rally it became difficult to maneuver through the exhibits as thousands of people had the same idea.  Lots of seminars we didn't attend and lots of RV's to look at and dream about.

Friday nights entertainment, Wayne Newton, was terrible. Everyone was still talking about it the next day. Time to retire Mr. Las Vegas.

BUT, Saturday night Reba rocked.   She put on a fantastic show for and hour and a half. Austin and I grabbed seats 7 rows back two hours before showtime and took turns hanging on to those seats. It was worth the wait. Approx. 6000 people were seated for the outdoor concert on a beautiful evening.

In the end, I decided I want this 5th wheel.
I want this!
