| Diane and Austin at our ticket booth at Atalaya |

Every December, for 13 years, Brookgreen comes to life amid the glow of more than 5500 hand-lit candles and countless sparkling lights. "
Nights of a Thousand Candles".
Not sure if there were actually 5500 candles (I didn't count them), there were many that couldn't be lit this misty night in December, but it was pretty to see candles floating in the pools of water and lights hanging from the giant trees in the gardens.
We walked the paths and listened to the sounds of carolers, handbells ringing and musicians. Austin and I enjoyed
Palmetto Bronze, the handbell group we had seen earlier this month at the Atalaya Holiday Celebration and
Thistledown Tinkers, a Celtic duo. Tom Eure was excellent on the banjo and various other string instruments.

On our days off this week we walked around
Historic Georgetown. Founded in 1729, Georgetown is the 3rd oldest city in South Carolina.

We also enjoyed the
