Riding High over Cape Cod

Today we cashed in the gift certificate I gave to Austin for our 30th Anniversary.  It was for a biplane ride from the Cape Cod Airfield  located at the intersection of Race Lane and Route 149 in Marstons Mills, MA.  It is nestled in the woods between the ocean, lakes, and beaches of Cape Cod.  It's step back in time to an airfield that dates back to the 1920’s. It has over 80 acres of open daisy-filled field, 3 grass intersecting runways, 2 hangars, and a quaint old windmill. It was once use as a training field for the Army Air Corps.

The plane is a WACO YMF-5, a replica of a late 1930's design and piloted by Chris Siderwicz Jr. Chris also manages the airfield and is a terrific guy. We flew for 35 minutes in the open cockpit biplane over Sandwich, the Cape Cod Canal, Bourne, Falmouth and parts of Barnstable.

It was a beautiful day on Cape Cod and a great Memorial Day weekend. Please pause a moment to remember those who gave their lives for our freedom to enjoy these pleasure.
