The Continuing Journey

Laramie Wyoming was suppose to be just an over night stop but it turned into two nights. We found ourselves driving the "Snowy Range Scenic Loop" in the southeast corner of the state. It was a beautiful ride through snow covered mountains.
Of course Rigley thought is was great and we saw a moose along the way. We also visited the Wyoming Territorial Prison Historic site

The next day we drove to the southwestern corner of Wyoming and connected with Route 191 in Green River. This was another beautiful route south through the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area to Utah. Our home base is just south of the Flaming Gorge Dam.

From here we spent a day at Dinosaur National Monument. Austin was disappointed that the quarry was closed to visitors but the drive through the park was spectacular.

We picked up a pamphlet for something called Nine Mile Canyon, 70 miles of Utah's Historic Backcountry Byway. This little ride made for a very long day but it was well worth it. Saw so many different landscapes it's hard to describe. Deep in the canyon we hiked a few trails looking for petroglyphs.

The ride North from the canyon through Ashley National Forest was like driving through giant sand dunes. It was dark when we got back to camp, many deer were in the road. I love seeing wildlife on a daily basis.

Rigley visited a vet today and that was even fun. Total back country old fashion all the way.
Dr. Mathis treated a yellow lab, a horse and a goat while we were there.
