Jelly Belly Bean Boozled

We have been camping with Jelly Belly at the Wild Duck Campground in Maine. The 40', colorful RV is visiting the East Coast and we were lucky to have them in the same campground as us. Yummy samples :-)

Jelly Belly's were created in 1976 with 8 flavors. These gourmet jelly beans are made with a flavored center in a flavored shell . There are 4 calories in one Jelly Belly and 400 Jelly Belly's in a pound.

In 1978 President Regan wanted to quit smoking and started eating licorice jelly beans. He complained to his Aid that it was difficult to find good licorice jelly beans and that Aid introduced him to Jelly Belly. When Regan was dubbed the Jelly Bean President, Jelly Belly's business increased 17 times in just one year. The company already had coconut and cherry flavors so when Pres. Regan wanted red, white and blue Jelly Belly's for Presidential gifts the blueberry flavor was created.

There are now 50 flavors of regular Jelly Belly's and 50 seasonal/unique flavors. It's those unique flavors that we got to taste in "Bean Boozled".

Jelly Belly Hosts, Zamie and Bill, are visiting different stores in the Northeast to thank the stores and customers for their business.

In parking lots they set up a table where they can hand out samples and let people play a game of chance, "Bean Boozled". You find yourself Bean Boozled when you spin a wheel and get to taste the bean flavor you land on.

At the campground , campers were invited to Zamie and Bill's site to play the game. This is how it went.

There are ten flavors on the wheel and two flavors in each drawer looking the same , one good and one bad. The odds are you'll get bad! Austin landed on banana, but it tasted like pencil shavings. I landed on peach and it tasted like vomit.

Some of the facial expressions were priceless. Our friends, Cheryl gagged on rotten egg and Bill had to spit out his skunk spray. Bill felt better when he won the bag of "Belly Flops", 2 pounds of factory seconds.

Bean Boozled jelly beans are available on their website for your next party. You can also get Bean Boozled at the Kandy Corner on Main Street in Hyannis on Monday, August 17th or at Ghelfi's in Mashpee Commons on Tuesday, August 18th. (that is their tentative schedule)
