Slow Road Home

Our last adventure in North Carolina was to tour the Grove Park Inn. The Inn was built from granite boulders from Sunset Mountain. It opened in 1913 and is in the Register of Historic Places. The Gallo's and Foster's roamed the halls checking out the antiques, pictures of famous guests and the spa. The Spa was sort of in a cave, real cool. The Blue Ridge Bliss package under Day of Indulgence will only cost you $625 plus a 20% tip. After the walk around ,we sat by the fire in one of the two 14 foot fireplaces in the "Great Hall". The room is 120 feet across with a 24 foot ceiling. Then across the yard to an old mill building to look at antique cars and textiles. A rainy day inside tour that cost us nothing. Such a deal.

We left NC and took another tour on the slow, Crooked Road, Virginia's Heritage Music Trail. We didn't stop anywhere, just enjoyed the scenery through the mountains and farmlands.

We are staying behind the rain and have stopped in Gettysburg, PA for the night while it rains to the North and East of us.
