We have arrived at our Tee Pee in Wharton, TX.
There was a story about this place in the Sept.16
Cape Cod Times so we had to check it out. In case you missed the article, the Tee Pee's were built in 1942. At some point they were neglected and later abandoned.
In 2003 Bryon Woods, a diesel mechanic, won $49 million in the Texas Lottery. Four months later his wife Barbara talked him into buying and renovating the place. So here we are enjoying a change a pace. Crooked walls and all.
To get here, we first stopped at the Alamo and Riverwalk in San Antonio. Then it was on to Mustang Island in Corpus Christi so Rigley could play on the beach.

Only problem, the beach was loaded with Portuguese Man of War. Very pretty creatures
with up to 30 foot tentacles that can still bite you even when they are on the beach. We kept Rigley from getting too close and he still had a good time in the sand.
What's a H.E.B. ? a Super H.E.B. ? I can't explain it or even describe it. A grocery store? a department store? a speciality shop?
Very unique. Lots of stores in a store. (the smaller H.E.B.'s are just regular grocery stores).
We were most impressed with the bakery. I only wish I had a party to go to so I could buy some of these pastries to impress everyone with.
There were aisles with your regular grocery items but not everything. Some foods were dispersed in a related dept. The BBQ Dept.,everything you can imagine related to BBQ ,, food, charcoal, grills, utensils, all under one canopy. The Cheese Shop,....just cheese, no other dairy, next to the Wine Shop. And the food (samples) stations, not a card table at the end of an aisle, no, these were mini kitchens with the chefs wearing microphones and talking while they cooked, Cajun shrimp stir fry. If you tried the chili and thought it was too spicy then the Hershey Kisses cart was close by to give you a hug or kiss to defuse the taste.
Everything baby under another canopy. Every department was like it's own little store.
The book section was a quiet little haven in the middle of it all.
I guess it was as big as a Walmart Superstore, but it didn't seem like it. Very cool. Check it out if you ever come across one.
Our journey will continue as we head to Galveston tomorrow....................
